In order to strengthen management cohesion and to enhance exchanges and communication between colleagues, Pacific Logistics Service organized a two-day team building and business conference in Beijing.
The two-day event was conducted through various team building activities, including Icebreaker, Tangram Management, etc. all of which enhanced understanding among colleagues and promoted active communication as well. The event also created opportunities for idea exchange among different stations. We appreciate the support and coordination from all stations and wish them the best to have more brilliant achievements in the future!
Of the 16 FAS staff who attended, several were new Foreign Service officers and the rest were members of the Junior Professionals group (a group comprised of up-and-coming FAS leaders). For all involved, it was a unique look at how agricultural shipments move through international boundaries. The tour helped us understand the jargon used in the air freight business, meet with the personnel who we may need to interact with, and understand the step-by-step order in which shipments move from the plane to being released to the importer. Even though Dulles Airport is a U.S. port of entry, having a hands-on understanding of the physical process and layout of an airport operation will undeniably translate to a better understanding overseas. This newfound knowledge will help FAS in providing better service to our constituents.
The Transport Topics’ Top 50 is a listing of the largest logistics companies in North America including listings of the largest freight brokerage firms, freight forwarders, warehouse operators and dedicated contract carriage service providers. Companies are ranked on the basis of actual or estimated annual net revenue and include a description of services and industry expertise. The Top 50 presentation includes separate listings of companies in each of five logistics sectors.
The Power 25 list was compiled with the help of Armstrong & Associates, Inc., a U.S.-based supply chain consulting firm, which ranked the top 25 largest forwarders based on their 2015 air tonnage. Revenue information and tonnage figures for 2015 are either reported by the companies or estimated by Armstrong & Associates. Revenues have also been converted into U.S. dollars, based on the average exchange rate in order to make non-currency- related growth comparisons.
